United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley celebrated National Summer Learning Week on July 10, 2019, by handing out 110 summer learning kits to students enrolled in the summer learning program at Marvine Elementary.
A team of employees from partnering organization, St. Luke’s Health Network, collected items like reading books, chalk, flash cards, bubbles, coloring activity books, and coloring supplies. The students were able to take home this fun assortment of items to continue fun and engaging learning during summer months.
Marvine Elementary is part of the
Community School Network. Students were thrilled to receive the items, and they celebrated by showing each other what they had in their kits.
United Way staff will share remaining kit items with Summer Associate VISTAs who work across the Lehigh Valley for organizations including Allentown Parks & Rec, Greater YMCA, and Allentown & Bethlehem Public Libraries.
Students enrolled in the program also receive breakfast and lunch every day, ensuring they are well-fueled to keep learning!
