Lehigh Valley Reads is a regional campaign to ensure that all Lehigh Valley students are reading on grade level by the end of third grade by 2025. In partnership with Penn State Lehigh Valley, a Lehigh Valley Reads micro-credential program is being offered to regional educators of K-5 students to support high quality explicit reading instruction in classrooms across the Lehigh Valley.

The two-year program with blended learning delivery that combines digital learning and local face to face meetings on the Penn State Lehigh Valley Campus in Center Valley, PA consists of:
  • Fall course (3 credits) and Spring course (3 credits) will include the latest research-based explicit instruction techniques and opportunities for teachers to incorporate them into their classrooms.
Successful completion of these first two courses will earn the Lehigh Valley Reads Explicit Instruction Badge
  • Second fall course (3 credits) will include instruction around trauma informed practices
Successful completion will earn the Lehigh Valley Reads Trauma-Informed Instruction Badge
  • Second spring course will include instruction around data-informed practice
Successful completion will earn the Lehigh Valley Reads Data-Informed Instruction Badge

Take part in one or more courses to earn the badges that best support your successful reading instruction. Acquiring all three badges earns the educator the Lehigh Valley Reads Student-Centered Instruction Micro-Credential!
